Kyle Turley has thoughts of Suicide

Kyle Turley had a colorful NFL career as both an outspoken All-Pro player and a moonlighting rock musician, and now he’s even lighting it up more in retirement. In an interview with Michael Gehlken of the U-T Sandiego, Turley revealed that he is on the anti-seizure drug Depakote and that he has used the NFL Crisis Hotline.

“No one in my family has ever gone crazy and killed themselves or thought about that,” Turley said. “I have. It’s not a thought that is fleeting.”

Turley, a former 1st round pick of the New Orleans Saints had a 10 year NFL career including 2 early seasons as an All-Pro. He battled injuries for years and retired in 2007. Turley is now a country rocker living and playing in Nashville.
