THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL NOT A SAFETY RISK, SAYS GOODELL

12.17.12

“We don’t have any information that indicates from our data that playing on Thursdays in any way decreases the safety of our players,” Roger Goodell told the media after the conclusion of Wednesday’s quarterly ownership meetings. “The injury rates do not indicate that at all over the years . . . So I think we start with facts, and the facts are that that’s not a risk to the players.”
Hmmm . . . it shouldn’t be long before we hear that there is no evidence or insufficient data to conclude that an 18 game schedule would increase safety risk to the players.
